A portrait of the artist Stefan Jürgens by Helga Siepmann
Looking at the pictures of the artist Stefan Jürgens is like entering a studio - here I would like to say: his studio - in which narrative art paired with expressiveness and suspense welcome and captivate me:
For many years, the artist Stefan Jürgens has gone through his life as a seeker and has encountered many possibilities and art movements that have influenced his thinking and senses and which he has recorded in notes, sketches and books!
The cover of a LP becomes a desire for the artist to immerse himself mentally in the picture with his enthusiasm. By photographing the cover, he realizes his idea of "pixelating" and discovers a new path for his art.
The deliberate absence of a stamp on a card feels like an invitation! Full of enthusiasm, fascination and excitement, Stefan Jürgens immerses himself in the "world of stamps", which opens all doors to his imagination and his artistic urge and thinking. He is also accompanied by his self-taught studies!
He uses stamps to create large-format collages, which find very interested and enthusiastic viewers in his exhibitions who are touched by his works.
Happiness, hardship, fears and joy find space in his art and become legible and tangible like -- stories -- fairy tales and -- incidents.
Entering the world of Stefan Jürgens' art is like looking at the world in a mirror and being touched by the artist's sensitivity!
His work "Riesenrad", for example, can be an invitation to think, or an adventure and a question: "Who gets on, who is excited or scared, who doesn't want to get off yet and who gets on or: who leaves the big wheel?"
Viewing Stefan Jürgens' stamp collages means experiencing a world of art that touches and takes the viewer on a journey and never lets go!
